Note: When the attempt from the second account failed, I tried to log out, but Protogo blocked the logout and would not quit. I'm running MacOS 10.11.6, and I have tried running Protogo from a separate user account that I keep for testing, as well as my usual account. I tried creating my own custom configuration, and get the same error. There is also an Applications folder containing App Store, Safari and Utilities. I can see the drive mounted, and there are system files on it. It starts well, everything looks like it is working, and then it just hangs on "Installing System Software." I've waited over an hour, and nothing. I select the device, and click on "Build TechTool Protogo Device." I select one of the available configurations for my 4GB thumb drive, and it says it will take 2.91GB. I open the app, select Tools from the Mode menu, and click on TechTool Protogo. I bought, downloaded and installed TechTool Pro 9 this morning. It's so disappointing, given that TTP has been a very useful app all these years.

It seems unwise to pay an additional $40.00 for TTP 9 if I can't be certain that it will resolve the problem. It did not resolve the problem.I haven't changed settings on my computer, in terms of what else might be causing this problem. My disk has always been encrypted, but I tried this suggestion. They said to try Micromat's suggestion, to decrypt my disk. I consulted with an Apple technician for roughly an hour, as well, and my computer should be fine and has been running perfectly fine, otherwise. They also guided me through an uninstall and reinstall of the app, but that didn't work. Micromat said that TTP can't run Tools on an encrypted disk, and to decrypt the disk and try running TT again. I can't create an eDrive, either, because it's saying "No source volume found." I contacted Micromat and had lengthy emails regarding this, but it has not been fixed.

I could only run the suite of tests "Run Check Computer" but could not run any TOOLS. Then suddenly my Volume was missing from both Tests and Tools. I was running TTP 8.0.4 just fine, until some time in June. I'm on an iMac, and both the iMac and TechTool had been fully up-to-date. I've been using TechTool since 2008, and it's done superbly until several weeks ago.
